On the Downhill Slope Yet Again!!!

After posting the last blog, things have changed yet again for Miss Whit! She was able to stay off of the oxygen for about 12 hours, however, the night shift had to put her back on Saturday night--Sunday morning. Just when we thought we would be leaving shortly, things change.

Jared came down to stay with me a few days...(I really needed him here). We went on Sunday to talk with the doctor. He told us "not to compare two babies." Okay! Miss Whit really needs the oxygen she is receiving and we can't rush that. It is just hard---all these ups and downs. The doctor told us that he would not keep her one more hour than she needed to be there. He also told us that they would be taking the weaning process really slow and as she tolerated it. So on Sunday, she was at 26% and 2 L.

Yesterday she was moved down to 1 L and 21% (room air). I thought that we were going to be taking this slow...however, she seems to be tolerating it really well. Today she is at .5 L and 21%. We are not getting our hopes up and know that things could change again. However, we are praying that this time she is able to come off the O2 completely without having to be put back on .

She is now weighing 5 pounds and 5 ounces. She is so long. Much longer than her brother it seems. She is starting to grow some hair (and yes it is brown)! She has the prettiest blue eyes than any momma can ask for. She is so sweet.

She is doing very well with her feedings and taking the bottle every feeding. So this won't be holding us back. It seems that we are waiting on her to tell us when she wants to give up the O2. Granny Faith told me that .5 L would be just enough to put a tickle in the nose. Just enough air to irritate someone. However, Miss Whit really enjoys this .5 L.

On to the Wyatt, he is now 5 pounds 15 ounces. He is getting so big. We went back to the pediatrician this morning for a weight check because she was concerned he wasn't gaining weight the way he should. Good news...he gained about 10 ounces in 1 week! WOW!!! He sleeps really well during the night (when I remember to give him his Caffcit in the morning)! Don't give a baby Caffcit at 6 p.m. Not a fun evening!!! For those of you who don't know what this is...it is a drug used to help with the apnea spells. He has not had one so we are crossing our fingers we can come off of this medicine soon.
